The Instagram Iceberg!
When Just Nips was banned from advertising on social media back in 2015, I wasn’t sure how I could possibly continue running my company. If every other business is advertising on Instagram except me, how could I ever keep up? For a while, I wasn’t sure. Slowly, I started trying to reach new people through other methods and traditional advertising techniques that did not require a Facebook account. While I wasn’t able to track to-the-minute results like I would’ve otherwise been able to, I was able to see the Just Nips community grow organically.
Instead of relying on Facebook and Instagram to do the dirty work of finding customers for me, I found them for myself. I met with women in person and found that that had a far better conversion rate than what Instagram ads could’ve given me. The more I did customer outreach on my own, the more I learned about my customer, who she is and what she actually wants from Just Nips, allowing me to finally let go of my dreams of scaling my business through Instagram ads.
Whenever I told other entrepreneurs that Just Nips does not spend a cent on Instagram, they looked at me like I was INSANE. At first, I got defensive and took it pretty personally, but then I realized that Instagram ads weren’t working as well as everyone thought, even for companies that weren’t banned! I felt compelled to get to the bottom of this, and obviously, prove my haters wrong!
I started poking around, asking entrepreneurs if they were pleased with their advertising results and many said NO! So why were they STILL advertising on Instagram?!
All of these questions led me to write The Instagram Iceberg, a guide for founders who are frustrated with their Instagram advertising return and unsure what to do next.
